Dan Pink on the surprising science of motivation | Video on TED.com
Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose. Using intrinsic motivation over carrot/stick to get creative work done. Great stuff. Lots of science research better. And promotes optional meetings and work days! "Career analyst Dan Pink examines the puzzle of motivation, starting with a fact that social scientists know but most managers don't: Traditional rewards aren't always as effective as we think. Listen for illuminating stories -- and maybe, a way forward."

Rory Sutherland: Life lessons from an ad man | Video on TED.com
Sutherland (Vice Chairman, Ogilvy) gives a fantastic (and funny) talk on creating perceptive value. He gives some hilarious examples and thoughts: Instead of spending $6B making a train-ride 20% faster, why not spend that money making it 100% better? -- Placebos are cheap, tremendously effective and the only side effects are totally made up, why aren't we pursuing more of them? -- He references BJ Fogg and Tyler Cowen. -- "Marketing has created impluse buy, why not impulse saving -- all we have to do is change the interface" -- he also seems to coin (maybe it's been used previously) the term "badge value" as the value that a good has non-intrinsically.
