Now Yahoo! Says Delicious Will Live On...Somewhere Else
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/now_yahoo_says_delicious_will_live_onsomewhere_els.phpYahoo! just may be able to squeeze some money out of this wonderful technology it tried to suffocate with neglect, after all. [...[ The following statement, which was issued almost 24 hours after first reports of Delicious being on the chopping block, doesn't say a whole lot. It does say the service won't be closed. That's good. "We can only imagine how upsetting the news coverage over the past 24 hours has been to many of you," the statement concludes. "Speaking for our team, we were very disappointed by the way that this appeared in the press." How patronizing! Do they think people didn't see the slide all these reports were based on? It wouldn't have taken more than a few quick phone calls to "clear things up" but most likely, Yahoo! didn't really have a plan to clear things up about before seeing the backlash that unfolded. You know how fast Google, Facebook or Twitter calls us on the phone if we get something "wrong?"

Eat Right Web: 18 Great Cooking Resources
foodresource_recipes_logo_jun09b.jpgHave you ever eaten a casserole made completely with canned ingredients and a potato chip crust? It's similar to if you've ever eaten wet cat food on a dare. It's terrible. Nevertheless, for many of us, these casseroles are as much a part of childhoods as Halloween and jump rope. While we can certainly eat casserole calamities and remember our youth fondly, it's probably time we contributed some new recipes to the family cookbook - ones that don't give everyone sodium-induced hypertension. Below is a quick round up of recipe resources:

Breaking News Online: How One 19-Year Old Is Shaking Up Online Media
¿Sus habilidades de nativos digitales les hacen mejor ojeadores de la red? BNO has made the most of a number of different media technologies. The team is best known for its presence on Twitter - at 800k, BNO has four times more followers than ABC News and twice as many as Newsweek. n a media landscape that some argue has transcended the old models of scarcity and physical distribution - it could be efficient research infrastructure, high-quality editorial judgment and building online channels of distribution that make the difference. Or, as blogger Mike Bracco put it on The Next Web today, "Unlike their mainstream counterparts the service does a great job of only reporting news worthy of the 'breaking' label. (..) All of this is fascinating, but isn't BNO still just an aggregator? In traditional media outlets "aggregator" is a dirty word (unless they are the ones doing the aggregation).

The Future of Search: Social Relevancy Rank
What we are about to get is a Social Relevancy Rank. Whenever you search streams of activity, the results will be ordered not chronologically but by how relevant each is to you based on your social graph. That is, people who matter more to you will bubble up. How does this work? Well, there will be a formula, just as there is a formula for Page Rank. Solution 101: Rank by Friends and People You Follow Here is an idea so obvious that it is surprising Twitter has not implemented it already: front-load search results with people you follow. When you search for, say, "Wilco" on Twitter today, the results are in the chronological order. That is not really relevant because you do not know who most of these people are. But if instead you could see people you follow, the search results would be much more useful.
